My Struggles

1. My Trip to Kaslo

Longest posted aerobic capacity workout out of everyone.

What Actually Changed

I Rely on my Physicality. My coaching relies heavily on my ability to move, interact, and keep pace with my athletes. That needed to change. (For a bit).

It woke me up to the fact that I coach a very certain way, and am dependent on that greatly.

Energy is a priority. This made me realize I have to preserve my energy as a coach in order to be able to give my best when it needs to be given.

Would I..?

2. Getting a little worn out

A day I didn’t think would come.

A New Experience

“I didn’t even feel this in Covid”. My first experience with coaching burn out. A function of:

  1. Illness & recovery required
  2. Going all in the 3 seasons prior to this one
  3. Not taking a serious enough step back in the spring, or previous winter

3. Which is my Team?

They all are, kind of.

All of Them?

“And you bring this up now?” A difficult section to put in for me.

  • Being a young coach,
  • Fragmented coaching approach might not be for me,
  • Programs with pre-existing structures and rich history.

Don’t just give me problems. Bringing strategies forward to the team, for my incoming replacement.

  • Compiling, & updating my documents in performance tracking for new arrivals,
  • Bringing forward my ideas for next year, and beginning executing them together,
  • Having conversations about how I felt coaching in fragments and how, or if, that needs improvement.
